Federal budget would hurt the most vulnerable
Reading U.S. Rep. Kelly’s editorial this morning, (“A bipartisan vote needed to fund the budget,” Oct. 21, Page 4) I nearly lost my cookies.
He neglected to mention that if the budget goes through as it is written, 22 million people across the country will have increased insurance rates and increased deductibles, so expensive that many will be forced to choose insurance or rent and food.
The budget hurts those who can least afford it and to what benefit? This benefits the rising oligarchy in the U.S., the billionaires who sought an enormous tax break.
I don’t know about you, but I think health insurance and access to health care is a human right.
The fuss about undocumented people receiving health care is a smoke screen. Federal law prohibits providing health care to undocumented people, or as the GOP likes to sneeringly call them, “illegals.” Some states may have provisions to provide such care to the undocumented people and that is a state’s choice.
