In a world full of chaos and strife, I want to publicly acknowledge those who are doing good things in this world.

We recently celebrated our annual “Caring for the Caregivers” Support Group celebration; it was a time to pamper and care for those that selflessly care for others. This celebration would not have been possible without the hard work of Michelle Lesniak, library director for the South Butler County Library in Saxonburg; she not only provides a warm and inviting space to our group each month, but she goes above and beyond to provide a beautiful meal for this annual gathering.

I want to also thank Joann Lindstrom with Touch of Health Massage; she provided a much needed massage to caregivers, and also a beautiful space for others to share their story. And the evening was full of laughter and relaxation as Suzie Dalessandro, from the Visiting Nurses Association, gave of her time and talent to share the meditative singing bowls with everyone.

Being a dementia family caregiver is not for the weak of heart; these are individuals that are strong, determined and authentic; it was a pleasure to honor them that evening and continue to walk alongside them throughout their journey.
