Bernard Fox
Bernard L. Fox, 94, of Cabot, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at Concordia of Cranberry.
Born July 24, 1931, on the family farm in Cabot, he was the son of Louis H. Fox and Lola Montgomery Fox.
Bernie was a lifelong farmer, retiring from full-time farming in 2014. He graduated from Winfield-Clinton High School in 1949 and Penn State with an Agricultural Science Bachelor of Science degree in 1954. He then served in the U.S. Army as a medic and ambulance driver for 18 months in East Germany as part of the occupying forces.
After his marriage in 1967, Bernie worked part-time for Farm Management Business Analysis Service, where he assisted local farmers with tax and farm management.
He was a member of the Zion Methodist Community Church, where he had served as treasurer for many years. He enjoyed learning about family history and was a great source for anyone wanting to know the Fox family history and also the Zion Church history. He enjoyed gardening, always had a large vegetable garden and also grew gladiolas and dahlias. Bernie had many friends who continued to visit, send cards and bring cookies after he moved to Concordia in Cranberry.
Surviving are his sisters, Ruth Fox O'Connor, of Belleville, Beverly Fox Chronister, of York, Wanda Fox (Paul) McRoberts, of Saxonburg and Jane H. Fox, of Seattle, Wash.; his nieces and nephews, Kimber (Stan) Alderson Jones, Barbara L. Alderson, Jill (Ernest) Alderson Ruzich, James Brent (Jada) Alderson, Heidi (Aaron) Alderson Hritz, Heather (Christopher) Chronister Hogan, Cory L. (Sally) Fox, Trent S. Fox, Shannon B. Fox, Michele (Edward) McRoberts Mayer and Chandler (Aimee) McRoberts; and his step-nieces- and nephew, Linda L. Bogan, Brenda K. Daniele and Douglas D. McCall.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Gahagen Taylor Fox, on April 24, 2015; one sister, Ganelle M. Fox Alderson; and one brother, Richard L. Fox.
Bernie was a man of few words, he will be missed by his family and many friends. His family would like to thank Concordia of Cranberry and Good Samaritan Hospice for taking such good care of Bernie and for the compassion for allowing Bernie to depart on his terms.
FOX — Friends of Bernard L. Fox, who died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Seth McClymonds.
Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery in Sarver.
