Jackson Community Foundation
The Jackson Community Foundation is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of Jackson Township residents by maximizing and coordinating resources for community development, public services, public facilities and infrastructure. Its goals are to foster collaboration, promote recreation, build a sense of community, and enhance Jackson Township.
The foundation, originally named the Jackson Township Community Development Corporation, was formed in 2012 out of a need to facilitate residential development and infrastructure improvements that could not be met by public and for-profit entities alone. Since its inception, the organization has facilitated various residential developments in Jackson Township and acted as a Neighborhood Improvement District Management Association for several infrastructure improvement projects.
In 2024, the board of directors recognized that the need for assistance with residential development had slowed and sought to realign the organization’s purpose with the current needs of the community. The board voted to rename the organization and develop a new strategic plan that would position the organization to support the township’s new Comprehensive Plan and Parks, Open Space, and Recreation Plan.
In 2025, the foundation focused its efforts on community events, and hosted township’s first Easter Egg Hunt and the Taste of the Town. Both events were well attended and the foundation plans to continue them annually.
The foundation will host the township’s first Trunk or Treat event from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at Sippel Reservoir Park. This is a free, family-focused Halloween event where children in costume can go trunk-to-trunk collecting treats. The event will also feature a bounce house, balloon artist, stilt walker, and coffee truck for the parents.
Decorating a trunk is a great way to be involved while giving back to the community. Registration is available at GiveButter.com/2025TrunkOrTreat.
All funds currently raised by the foundation are being allocated toward the development of the My Dog’s Dog Park in Swampoodle on Spring Street. The foundation has partnered with Jackson Township, My Dog, and Paws with Purpose to make this highly requested project come to fruition.
