Carolyn Kamensky

Kamensky

Carolyn A. Kamensky, formerly of Queens, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, at the age of 86, in the comfort of her home.

Born in 1939, she grew up in Queens Village and, during World War II, moved to Jamaica, Queens, to live with her grandmother and mother while her father served in the military. These formative years shaped her strength, independence and deep sense of family — values she carried with her throughout her life. After finishing school, she worked as a typist for a publishing company in Manhattan — a role she held with pride and diligence, where she was always dressed to the hilt.

While in New York, she met her future husband, Robert “Herky” Kamensky. After their marriage, the couple made their home in McKees Rocks, where she built a warm and loving home.

She was deeply devoted to her family and took great pride in everything she did. She had a lifelong passion for crafting, sewing, baking and cooking — always striving for excellence and creating beauty and comfort through her hands. Whether it was a perfect and thought out execution of a Halloween costume, a lovingly prepared holiday meal or a handwritten note, her talents were expressions of her care and love.

Above all, she adored her children and her grandson, who brought her endless joy and pride. Her love for them was unwavering and her presence in their lives was a constant source of support, strength and warmth.

She is survived by Robert Jay and Cristyn Kamensky, and her beloved grandson, Cameryn Steele. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Matilda Marshall; her beloved husband, Robert J. “Herky” Kamensky; her infant daughter, Valerie; and sisters, Annette, Diane and Claire.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Butler hospital. Thanks to the dedicated CNAs, for their compassionate care. A special thank you to Dr. Handler, Dr. Hanna, Dr. Reg and Dr. Marcotte for their guidance, kindness and support during her time there over the years.
