Back Home BBQ & Brew
Owner Tyler Skidmore turned a leap of faith into opening one of Butler County’s most beloved barbecue spots — Back Home BBQ & Brew, located off Mars-Evans City Road in Callery.
After careers in education and insurance, Skidmore felt “a calling from God” to return to Pennsylvania and pursue his true passion: creating bold, handcrafted barbecue that feels like home.
Now celebrating two years in business, Back Home BBQ & Brew is more than just a restaurant — it’s a full dining experience and a community gathering place.
Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the restaurant serves up smoked favorites like ribs, brisket, chicken, and their award-winning wings, each paired with one of Skidmore’s 15 signature sauces. Three sauces are always on tap: Texas-style sauce inspired by his Uncle Dave, the sweet and tangy Lonestar Shadow, and Yeller, a mustard-based Western Carolina classic, and a Sauce of the Month.
Back Home BBQ & Brew is also a full brewery, pouring 10 house-brewed beers on tap that perfectly complement the smoke and spice of the menu. Whether you’re in the mood for a pint and some wings, a family dinner, or a casual night out, the restaurant offers a warm, welcoming space that lives up to its name.
Beyond the restaurant, Skidmore and his team bring their award-winning barbecue to festivals, events, weddings, office parties, and private gatherings throughout the region. With a full catering setup — from smoked meats to sides and sauces — Back Home BBQ makes it easy to bring authentic barbecue flavor “back home” to your event.
As Skidmore puts it, “When someone walks up and says, ‘That’s the best barbecue I’ve ever tasted,’ that’s what does it for me.”
Back Home BBQ & Brew is located at 1328 Mars Evans City Road, Evans City, and can be reached by phone at 724-432-3939.
