Police: New Castle man forges woman’s signature on divorce documents

A New Castle man was charged after police say a divorce was fraudulently filed in Butler County Common Pleas Court.

Butler County detectives charged Anthony James Dedionisio, 44, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, with felony forgery and misdemeanor unsworn falsification to authorities following a Sept. 16 report.

Police said a woman went to the Butler County district attorney’s office on Sept. 16 to file a forgery complaint. The woman told police she received a decree of divorce from Butler County in August that noted a finalized uncontested divorce.

The woman told police she had not signed any divorce papers. Police viewed a copy of the divorce documents and found four documents with the woman’s signature, which she said she did not sign.

Police interviewed Dedionisio on Oct. 6. According to police, he admitted to filling out all the documents with the woman’s signature. He told police he believed the woman authorized him to sign her signature. The woman uses a wheelchair and has difficulty using her extremities.

Police said Dedionisio failed to provide any evidence he was authorized to sign the woman’s name.

Dedionisio’s preliminary hearing before District Judge William Fullerton has yet to be scheduled.
