A Mars man is accused of assaulting Butler Memorial Hospital staff while answering intake questions, police said.

James Lynn Lingenfelter, 63, was charged Friday, Oct. 17, with two felony counts of aggravated assault following a Sept. 25 incident.

Police said Lingenfelter became irate when answering intake questions and punched at two hospital staff members. One staff member was punched in the left forearm and ribs, and another was struck in the face, according to an affidavit.

Police said Lingenfelter was sedated after the incident and the staff members did not require medical attention.

Lingenfelter’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
