The City of Butler and Butler Area School District’s plans to fix up Historic Pullman Park are chugging along with efforts to replace the turf and the seating currently happening.

Brian White, Butler Area’s superintendent, said at a school board meeting Monday night it should only be a matter of weeks until the turf at Pullman Park is replaced.

White also said the city and district are currently waiting for new seats for the ballpark to be delivered.

“They are on the site. The turf contractors are there. They’ve pulled up a good portion of the field as of last Friday when I was down there,” White said. “Seats have been ordered. We are waiting for those to come in. The turf, they initially told us it would take about four weeks when they started, so I’m anticipating some time in November.”

The buying and installation of the new turf cost the city $162,216. The bid was awarded by city council in July to Keystone Sports Construction.

Council also previously approved a bid in September to replace over 400 seats. The bid went to Eichenlaub Company for around $125,000.

Previously, repair costs for the stadium — which included seats, the field and roof repair — were estimated to be around $400,000.

The district and the city entered a joint-management agreement in June for the school district to oversee the day-to-day operations of the ballpark.
