Police: Chicora man ran after asking if he was going to jail

A Chicora man allegedly asked an officer if he was going to jail, before running from a traffic stop Friday, Oct. 10, in Washington Township, police said.

Jayden Mitchell S. Myers, 20, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of flight and resisting arrest, and five misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia possession following the traffic stop.

Police initiated the traffic stop on Fairview Road and found Myers in the passenger seat. While searching the vehicle, police found a two plastic bags with residue, a broken glass smoking device with suspected residue, red and blue broken straws, a small light bulb with suspected residue, and a coin purse.

Police said Myers admitted there was methamphetamine in the coin purse.

Police said while they were outside the vehicle, Myers asked the officer if he was going to jail, which the officer confirmed.

Myers then began running for a short period but stopped after being threatened with a taser, police said.

Myers is being held in Butler County Prison on a $40,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:25 a.m. Nov. 18 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
