Every October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Rick and Kim Hempfling Memorial Cast Iron Cookoff honors the memory of the two loving parents.

Siblings Rich Hempfling and Ashley Young brought families and friends together Saturday, Oct. 11 for the cast iron cook off over on Queen Junction Road to remember their parents. They compete for the coveted trophy, which they joke is “bigger deal than a Grammy.”

The rules to enter: you must cook something on an open fire in something cast iron.
