Rowing club coming to Moraine State Park
Moraine State Park may soon have one more reason for people to visit, with the announcement of RowAmerica Pittsburgh, a planned rowing club based on the shores of Lake Arthur.
Plans for the future club were announced Thursday, Oct. 9, with a news conference to be held Friday at Moraine’s Bear Run Boat Ramp -- where the rowing club is to be located.
The sports club’s creation is funded by entrepreneur and rowing enthusiast Howard Winklevoss, father of former men’s Olympic rowers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. The brothers competed for the U.S. team at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 in the pairs event.
According to the news release, construction is set to begin later this fall, with the club projected to begin offering programs in April 2026. Among the programs to be offered are competitive teams and learn-to-row clinics.
