Man, woman charged with burglarizing 2 Butler homes
A Parker man and Butler woman are accused of burglarizing two Butler homes Thursday, Oct. 9.
Jonathan Michael Tacey, 28, of Parker, and Savannah Kaye Rogers, 19, of Butler, were each charged with two felony burglary counts and one misdemeanor count each of theft and receiving stolen property following the incident. Tacey was additionally charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Police said they received a call Oct. 9 from a homeowner on East Walnut Street who suspected her home was being broken into. Police said the woman wasn’t home but saw Rogers attempting to enter the home then received an alert on her phone signaling there was motion inside the home.
Police surrounded the residence and waited for the homeowner to arrive. While waiting, police said Rogers exited the home but retreated inside when she saw police.
Rogers eventually exited the home and said another man was still inside. Police then searched the home and found Tacey hiding behind a couch in the basement. Police said Tacey pulled away from officers while being arrested.
Police found multiple bags inside the home near Tacey, which the homeowner said didn’t belong to her. Inside one of the bags was identification for a man living on East Brady Street.
Police said the man called police shortly after to report his backpack and other items had been taken from the home. The man discovered his bathroom window was open, which he said is always shut and not opened by anyone in the home.
The man was missing his backpack, cellphone and an Xbox controller. Police said another backpack, a Nintendo Switch, a video game dock and two Nintendo Switch games were also taken from the house.
Tacey’s and Rogers’ preliminary hearings are scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 20 before District Judge William Fullerton.
