Susan Gayle Frankenstein, 73, of Zelienople, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025.

Born Aug. 2, 1952, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Frederick N. and Margaret Ellen (Richard) Zehner.

Susan graduated with a master’s degree from Slippery Rock University. She went on to become a beloved third-grade educator in the Seneca Valley School District for 33 years before her retirement. Susan was very committed to helping children with special needs, in and outside of the classroom, with many hours spent tutoring after school.

Susan was a devoted member of St. Peter’s Reformed Church. She was always creating handmade, personalized cards for the church members and the church shut-ins. Susan was a very talented painter, she also enjoyed scrapbooking.

When she wasn’t making her beautiful art projects, she loved watching a variety of sports, football, baseball and basketball, especially March Madness. Susan loved reading and playing cards, she was also an avid lover of going on cruises, she went on nine total throughout her life. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 52 years, Wayne D. Frankenstein; her daughter, Amanda Sue Frankenstein; her sister, Nancy Korczynski; her brother and sister in-law, Randy and Cindy Hart; and her nephews, Justin and Jon Hart.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her stepbrother, Boyd Oliver; and her niece, Jackie Hart Morris.

FRANKENSTEIN — Friends and family of Susan Gayle Frankenstein, who died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, will be welcomed from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 4 p.m., with Pastor David Bordy officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s honor to the Evans City Public Library, www.evanscitylibrary.org, or the Zelienople Area Public Library, zelienoplelibrary.org/how-to-help.

Susan will be laid to rest at the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.
