Butler man reportedly assaults Cranberry Township hotel clerk

A Butler man is accused of assaulting a hotel front desk clerk in Cranberry Township, police said.

Edward Earl Clark, 33, was charged Tuesday, Sept. 30, with misdemeanor simple assault following a Sept. 28 incident.

Police said they were dispatched for reports of an assault at Extended Stay America in Cranberry Township. Police said they spoke with the man who was assaulted at the scene — the front desk clerk.

The clerk told police Clark came into the hotel and requested an additional room. When the clerk denied Clark’s request, police said Clark became agitated, approached the desk and punched the clerk in the face.

Police said the clerk was treated at the scene by Cranberry Township EMS and was transported to the hospital to receive stitches.

Clark’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 31 before District Judge Kevin Flaherty.
