Polcie say Butler man stole woman’s minivan, credit cards after keys and wallet left at bar

A 78-year-old Butler man is accused of stealing a woman’s credit cards, license and vehicle from a Butler bar, according to police.

Floyd Kenneth Greenawalt, 78, was charged with misdemeanor theft following a Sept. 21 incident at the Chestnut Street Inn. Police said Greenawalt was banned from the bar following the incident.

Police said they met with a woman at the scene who said her wallet and keys went missing from the bar where she left them before going to the restroom around midnight.

Police said the woman eventually found her wallet at another location in the bar, but it was missing her credit cards and drivers license. Her Chrysler minivan, its keys and her apartment keys were also gone, police said.

Police then spoke with the bartender working that night who said she did not see anyone take the wallet and keys, but there were multiple patrons around where the woman was sitting.

Police later found the woman’s CashApp card was attempted to be used the following day at Hoffman Auto Parts. Store employees identified Greenawalt as the man who attempted the purchase.

Police said the woman brought the identity to the bar’s employees, and they recalled seeing Greenawalt at the bar the night of the incident. Security footage from inside the bar confirmed Greenawalt sat near the woman before the incident.

Greenawalt’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
