Carl ‘Sunny’ Selfridge

Selfridge

Carl “Sunny” F. Selfridge, 90, of Butler, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2025.

He was born in Butler on April 29, 1935, to the late Carl “Chip” and Dorothy “Dot” (Hohman) Selfridge.

Sunny honorably served in the U.S. Navy and was employed as a painter for Pullman. His smile could light up a room. Sunny enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a huge Pirates fan and would never miss a game.

Sunny was the beloved husband of Carol (Gould) Selfridge, since their marriage on Sept. 29, 1978; father of Donald and Scott Selfridge, Cassie William and Robin (Bob) Barnhart; stepfather of Jayni (Jim) and Edward (Sis) Sarver; grandfather of 17; and great-grandfather of 20.

Along with his parents, Sunny was preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick” (Peg) Selfridge; and his granddaughter, Danielle Sarver.

The family would like to thank the staff at Life Butler for the amazing care they gave to Carl, and the Twilight Wish Foundation that gave Carl the opportunity to go to a Pirates game.
