Raymond Anthony Desmond, 80, of Butler, peacefully went to be with the Lord, at home with his beloved wife, Marcella, at his side, on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025.

He was born in Butler County on April 26, 1945, to the late Patrick and Evelyn (Kiley) Desmond and graduated from Butler High School in 1963.

After he graduated, he worked for Troutman’s Department Store, then Pullman Standard, then he was a school bus driver for the Butler Area School District for 20 years.

Raymond and Marcella were longtime members of All Saints Parish, specifically St. Peter Church and St. Andrew. Raymond loved being a member of the French & Belgium Club, R.C. Men’s Club and the East Butler Fire Hall. They would often travel to all three clubs every day.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marcella (Neff) Desmond, whom he married Aug. 17, 1968; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Olsen; and brother, Patrick Desmond.

DESMOND — Family and friends of Raymond Anthony Desmond, who died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Saint Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Road, Chicora (North Oakland). Burial will follow.
