Crews battle compressor fire in Middlesex Township business

MIDDLESEX TWP — A compressor caught fire inside a business along Route 8 on Wednesday, Sept. 24, causing multiple fire departments to respond to the scene.

A call was first placed shortly before 4 p.m. reporting a fire inside United Mining Equipment, 885 Pittsburgh Road. Crews responded to the scene quickly, with some departments sending firefighters inside while others waited outside.

According to Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Department, the fire started due to a compressor. Fire extinguishers were used to douse the flames before crews arrived and turned off the power.

Nobody was injured and property damage was minimal, according to the fire department.

Other departments responding include Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company, Adams Area Fire District, Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department, Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department and Callery Volunteer Fire Company.
