Lyndora woman accused of aiding, participating in sexual abuse of girl, 15
A Lyndora woman is accused of aiding a Butler man in the alleged sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl and participating in the abuse, according to charges filed last week.
Bethany Joy Hall, 41, was charged Wednesday, Sept. 17, with one felony count each of aggravated indecent assault, aiding in aggravated indecent assault, child endangerment, corruption of minors and misdemeanor failing to report suspected child abuse.
She’s being held in Butler County Prison on a $25,000 bail.
According to the affidavit, police were alerted to Hall’s alleged role in the sexual abuse of the teen by Nathan Cornetti, a 33-year-old Butler man accused of sexually abusing the 15-year-old girl. Police said Cornetti, in July, accused Hall of participating in the abuse and allowing it to occur.
An investigation into an alleged sexual relationship between Cornetti and the teen had begun in May, police said. Cornetti, was charged July 7 with one felony count each of rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, child pornography possession, corruption of minors, videotaping sexual acts with a minor and dissemination of video of a sexual acts with a minor, and one misdemeanor count each of indecent assault, terroristic threats, furnishing liquor to a minor and unlawful dissemination of an intimate image.
Upon learning about Hall’s alleged involvement, police said they searched the phones of Hall, Cornetti and the juvenile for evidence. Police said they found text messages on Hall’s and the juvenile’s phone supporting her involvement in the sexual abuse and retrieved more evidence from Cornetti’s phone.
Police said they reviewed the contents of Cornetti’s phone and found evidence of Hall assuring Cornetti the juvenile would not speak to anyone about the abuse. Other text messages reportedly detailed the relationship between Hall and Cornetti and contained more about the sexual abuse of the juvenile, according to police.
According to the affidavit, Hall told police she had picked the juvenile up from Cornetti’s home about 16 times. She also remembered waking up in Cornetti’s bed with the juvenile after a night of drinking, police said.
Hall’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 29 before District Judge William Fullerton.
