Teare

Eugene “Gene” Teare, 99, of Grove City, passed peacefully Friday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2025, in Grove Manor.

Gene was born in Grove City on June 4, 1926, and was the son to Harry E. and Pheobe Ann (Davis) Teare. He married Ruth K. Hunter on June 4, 1948. She preceded him in death Aug. 6, 1999.

He was a graduate of Grove City High School in 1944 and he served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945.

Gene was a member of Galilean Baptist Church, Grove City, where he was a deacon, taught Sunday School and served the church in any capacity he could. Previously he was an active member for many years at First Baptist Church, Grove City.

Gene began his 35-year career as a nurse, beginning at both Bashline Rossman and Bashline Oak Hill Hospital, and later retiring from United Community Hospital, Grove City.

Gene is survived by two daughters, Elaine Teare, Millersville, Pa., and Beth (Eric) Hill, Danville, Pa.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sons, Paul E., Bruce W. and Bud D. Teare; a sister, Beverly Osterling; and five brothers, Bud, Merle, Carl, Wayne and Daniel Teare.

TEARE — Family and friends of Eugene “Gene” Teare, who died Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, from the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Woodland Cemetery with military honors.
