Act would help Alzheimer’s, dementia patients
As a resident of Butler County, I want to express my gratitude to Congressman Mike Kelly for cosponsoring the Accelerating Access to Dementia and Alzheimer’s Provider Training Act.
This legislation is a meaningful step toward addressing the growing crisis of Alzheimer’s and dementia care, especially in small towns and rural communities like those in Butler County, where access to specialized providers can be limited.
As someone who works in the field of elder care, I’ve seen firsthand how limited access to specialized care can leave families struggling and confused when their loved one begins experiencing cognitive changes.
Too often, primary care providers are the first — and sometimes only — point of contact, yet many lack the training to recognize early signs or guide families on next steps.
The AADAPT Act will change that by offering virtual training to equip primary care providers with the knowledge and tools they need to make diagnoses earlier and provide better support and management.
Congressman Kelly’s support for this bill shows he’s listening to the needs of our community and understands the unique challenges facing rural health care systems.
This legislation is not just about improving care or providing better diagnoses — it’s about restoring dignity and hope to all those impacted. Thank you, Congressman Kelly, for standing up for all those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia and helping lead the effort toward better dementia care.
