City offers update on Sunday crash on Main Street
A Sunday, Sept. 14, crash near the intersection of Main Street and New Castle Street prompted two people to be taken by medical helicopter for injuries and damaged street signage in downtown Butler.
According to Butler City Police Department’s Chief Robert O’Neill, preliminary evidence indicates a vehicle ran a red light and struck another vehicle proceeding through the intersection. He confirmed two people were taken to hospitals via LifeFlight following the crash.
There’s no update on the status of those who were injured. Police will release more information when the investigation is complete, and they have updates on injuries, O’Neill said.
Mayor Bob Dandoy said the city is working with its insurance company to conduct repairs and replacements, but he did not yet have an estimate on the cost or timeline for repairs.
He said in the area between Jefferson and New Castle streets, there was damage to a crosswalk pole, a street sign and light pole and a garbage can. The city’s insurance companies involved in the claim are HUB International in Pittsburgh and MRM Property & Liability Trust.
