Marianne Malis
Marianne Malis, 87, of Butler, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at The Addison at Lowrie Place with her loving family at her side.
Born Aug. 15, 1938, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Michael A. Acquaviva and Flora Sophia Napoletan Acquaviva.
She was a homemaker. She also worked side by side with her father at Acquaviva’s Penn Cleaners.
Marianne was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers and she ran the church’s Lenten fish fry for 20 years.
Marianne was also an involved grandmother who lived for her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching her grandkids play sports and she was an especially proud “Maw-Maw” at graduation time.
She is survived by four children, Joseph Michael Malis, of Florida, Debra Jo Junk (Ronald Junk), of Cabot, Lisa Marie Anderson (Mark Anderson), of Butler, and Christine Lee Malis (Jerry Davis), of Butler; one brother, David Acquaviva, of The Villages, Fla.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Ronald Malis, who passed away Feb. 24, 1993; one brother and one sister.
MALIS — There will be no public visitation for Marianne Malis, who died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with the Rev. William D. Wuenschel officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to All Saints Parish, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001.
