Independence Health participates in DECIDE Registry for coronary artery disease
Butler Memorial Hospital is participating in the DECIDE Registry, a prospective registry on plaque analysis in coronary artery disease, a condition in which plaque builds up in the heart’s arteries and reduces blood flow.
The project is spearheaded by Heartflow, a program that specializes in AI technology for coronary artery disease.
According to the health system, while coronary CT scans — also known as coronary computed tomography angiography — can show the presence of plaque in the heart’s arteries, traditional readings do not measure how much plaque is present or what kind it is, which can be a better predictor of heart problems.
