The Butler County Family YMCA announced Thursday, Sept. 4 its plans to raise $300,000 by Giving Tuesday.

Set to celebrate the culmination of these efforts on Tuesday, Dec. 2, this year’s campaign aims to raise essential funds that will directly benefit families and individuals who rely on the YMCA every day.

Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, is a reminder that every act of kindness counts. For the YMCA, it’s an annual, pivotal moment to unite supporters, donors and local businesses in creating positive change for thousands of people across the region, according to a news release from the YMCA.

Money donated to the Butler County Family YMCA provides financial assistance for youth programs, including child care, summer camps and swim lessons and supports wellness and fitness programs for seniors and those with chronic health conditions. Money would also expand food access initiatives, mental health resources, and teen mentorship programs and ensure no one is turned away due to an inability to pay.

Donations can be made online at bcfymca.org; in person at either the Butler YMCA, 330 N. Washington St. in Butler, or the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA, 2001 Ehrman Road in Cranberry Township; or by phone at 724-452-9122, ext. 213.
