Man charged with indecent exposure at public library for 2nd incident
Butler city police have brought an additional charge against a Butler man accused of exposing himself multiple times at the Butler Area Public Library last month.
Timothy Davanzati, 21, was charged Tuesday, Sept. 2, with one count of indecent exposure after police received security footage of him allegedly masturbating in the library on Aug. 8.
The new charge comes just days after Davanzati was arrested and charged with four counts of harassment, three counts of disorderly conduct, two counts of indecent exposure and one count of indecent assault following a similar incident that occurred on Aug. 21.
According to an affidavit, four days after his initial arrest, police received a call from a library employee who said there was additional video from the sexual assault.
Police said the additional footage showed a man identified as Davanzati entering an area of the library containing children’s books shortly before 10:30 a.m. Aug. 8.
Seconds later, Davanzati is shown on camera masturbating and walking into what looks like a children’s play room, according to police. About 20 minutes later, police said, he is shown masturbating while trying to conceal himself with a book on the library’s main camera. After an adult male walked into the area, the camera appeared to show Davanzati stop and walk out of view, only to come back minutes later and begin masturbating again.
Butler city police were initially dispatched to the library for reports of a sexual assault on Aug. 21. A woman told an officer a man exposed himself and masturbated while behind her.
Library staff sent video footage to police, confirming the woman’s account of the incident, according to an affidavit.
Later that morning, Davanzati called 911 to say he planned to turn himself in. About two hours later, he went to the police station, agreed to an interview and admitted to the acts.
Davanzati is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing for the first set of charges on Sept. 8 at 1:15 p.m. in front of District Judge William Fullerton.
