Malchano

Frederick Joseph “Rick” Malchano, 79, of Adams Township, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, with his loving family at his side.

Born May 16, 1946, in Pittsburgh, he was the third of six children of the late Frederick and Gertrude (Staab) Malchano.

He graduated from North Allegheny High School in 1964 and then spent almost two years proudly serving his country in the Army’s 1099th Transportation Company during the Vietnam War. He delivered milk for Marburger Dairy and then drove an oil tanker for BP, retiring in 2005.

He enjoyed working in his yard and took pride in its upkeep. He also liked attending and watching NASCAR races and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He enjoyed fishing, going to the river with his lifelong friends and to the casino.

Rick was married to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda, for 56 years until her death in 2024. He was the loving father of Michelle (Tom) Morrison, of Harrisburg, S.D., and Jennifer (Chance) Turner, of Adams Township; and the proud and adoring Grandpa of Silas Turner, who he cherished spending time with.

Rick is survived by his sister, MaryBeth (Steve) Denniston, of New York; and sisters-in-law, Molly Malchano and Joanna Malchano. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends that were more like family.

His three brothers, Mark, Jim and David; and sister, Phyllis, preceded him in death.

MALCHANO — A gathering of family and friends of Frederick Joseph “Rick” Malchano, who died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of a celebration of life service and military honors at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E. Main St., Evans City, with the Rev. David Saylor officiating.
