Dorine M. Young
Dorine M. Young, 95, of Butler, formerly of Chicora, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, Sept. 3, 2025, at Concordia at The Orchard in Butler.
Dorine was born in Buena Vista on April 3, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Harrison and Phoebe (Wigton) Andre. She was a 1949 graduate of Chicora High School.
Dorine was a devoted homemaker and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler. She and her husband, Jack, enjoyed traveling to many states and went on two mission trips to Haiti.
She married her husband, John E. “Jack” Young, in Fairview on June 15, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2003.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Craig and her husband, Dennis, of Chicora; two grandchildren, Corey Craig and his wife, Christina, of Chicora, and Alissa Fickert and her husband, Ian, of Lansdale. She was affectionately “Mimi Dor” to her four great-grandchildren who were the light of her life, Aiden Fickert and Camryn Fickert, of Lansdale, and Cooper Craig and Cohen Craig, of Chicora.
Also surviving is a sister, Barbara Ealy, of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Phyllis Calari, Pauline Brown and Carol Barnhart; as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Dorine’s family sends its appreciation to the staff of Concordia at The Orchard for the compassionate care they provided to her during her eight years of residence. To the amazing, incredible, nurses and staff, both present and past, we are indebted to you for your kindness and compassion.
We are also grateful for all the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice who took care of her. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Candice for her care and friendship.
