Jones

John H. “JJ” Jones passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, at the home of his daughter and surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 1, 1943, to Verne Asaph and Grace Evelyn (Miller) Jones in Unionville. John graduated from Butler High School in 1961. He enrolled in the Navy a short time later and became a Seabee during his time in the service. Except for the years in the service, John lived his entire life in Unionville.

Upon returning from the Navy, John wed Nancy (Stubenbordt Jones) Disher and had two children, Gary and Linda. Nancy preceded him in death in 2007. John was also married to the late Constance Gail Cagni Jones. Connie brought joy to his life. She preceded him in death in 2020.

He retired from Armco Steel in 2000 after 38 years as a truck driver. John also worked many years driving school bus.

John was a lifetime member of Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church and was a volunteer fireman at Unionville for many years.

John is survived by his son, Gary (Jennifer) Jones, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and his daughter, Linda Jones, of Butler. He is survived also by stepchildren, Robert Anthony, Carrie (Butch) Swidwa and Rodger (Patrice) Anthony.

He is survived also by grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Trenton, Marceil and Mark Jones; along with stepgranddaughter, Kylee (Brian) Stevenson, and their children, Mia and Colt.

John was preceded in death by his only brother, Bob Jones; and a stepgrandson, Cody; and stepgranddaughter, Gabrielle.

Most of his friends have passed, but shout out to Pastor Matt and Sharon Kail, Denny Irvine, Rita Hayes and last but not least, Morris Gun Shop, for your friendship through these later years.

JONES — There will be no public services for John H. “JJ” Jones, who died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025.
