College roundup: BC3 women’s volleyball stays unbeaten; men’s golf splits opener
Butler County Community College women’s volleyball swept Pennsylvania Highlands Community College 3-0 Monday to improve to 4-0.
The 10th-ranked Pioneers won by sets scores of 25-8, 25-2, 25-14 for their third sweep of the season, as Dakota Weldon led the team with 10 kills. Freeport graduate Josie Russo had nine, and Molly Bissel recorded six saves.
Parker Worsley and Jeremy Scheidt shot 81s to lead BC3 men’s golf in a Friday tri-meet split; the Pioneers beat the Community College of Allegheny County 330-368 and lost 321-330 to Westmoreland County Community College.
B. Stephen Carpenter II (1987), Dom Francis (2015) and Zach Hall (2014) will be inducted into the Slippery Rock men’s soccer Ring of Honor on Sept. 20 during halftime of a game against Shippensburg.
Carpenter was a defensive fixture in 65 games in the mid-1980s and competed in indoor and outdoor track and field for a season. Francis recorded 32 points in 36 games, including 13 goals. And Hall recorded eight goals (five game winners) and seven assists in 71 career games.
