Martha Sapar
Martha L. Sapar, 87, formerly of North Duffy Road and Sawmill Run Road in Butler, passed away the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, at Grove Manor in Grove City.
Martha was born Nov. 2, 1937, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Harold Minner and the late Luella Haggerty Minner. Martha started her love of nursing by working at Sunnyview Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide. She also worked for the Visiting Nurses Association of Butler as a home health aide for 27 years. Continuing on her love of being a caregiver, she worked well into her 70s providing private duty nursing care to many. She was loved by her patients and their families.
Martha was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, where she was an active member of the Ladies Guild and GCU for many years and held various offices. She enjoyed camping with her family, playing bingo, crocheting and gardening.
Martha is survived by her four children and their spouses, Tamara Sapar, of Butler, Duane and Phyllis Sapar of Altoona, Darrin Sapar, of Butler and Laurie and Larry Ball, of Chicora; two brothers, David Minner and his wife, Frances, of Natrona Heights, and Harold Minner, of Palm Springs; nine grandchildren, Derek Burns, Ryan Ball, Dillon and Ashley Sapar, Dana Kearns, Marisa Sapar, Stephanie Selenchik, Mandi Bunnell and Jennifer Tirk; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Sapar, whom she married March 2, 1957, and who passed away Nov. 22, 2009; two sisters, Betty Osche and Mary Louise Johns; one brother, Robert Minner; and one great-grandson.
SAPAR — Private family visitation will be held for Martha L. Sapar, who died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025.
Funeral Mass will be held at noon Tuesday, Sept. 2, at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora, with Father Radko Blichar officiating.
Burial to follow at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
