Independence Health System and Allegheny Health Network have been given statewide recognition for its work to support and raise awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation.

Independence is among three in Western Pennsylvania to be recognized by the Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania’s Donate Life Pennsylvania Hospital Challenge, an annual campaign that encourages hospitals across the state to promote organ, eye and tissue donation within their facilities and surrounding communities.

AHN also has received recondition from Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania’s Donate Life Pennsylvania Hospital Challenge.

Allegheny General Hospital and AHN Wexford Hospital were also named top-performing hospitals in the region as part of the challenge, with the hospitals receiving second and third place awards.

A total of 10 AHN hospitals were recognized through the challenge with titanium or platinum designations.
