UFP Industries to close Armstrong County location

UFP Industries in Parker will be closing its doors in the coming weeks, a spokesperson for the company confirmed Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Abby Mitch said that the closure of the facility at 116 N. River Ave., Parker, Armstrong County, will be phased out over the next eight weeks. She said severance will be paid.

“No jobs were lost today,” Mitch said, confirming the closure of UFP Parker was just announced Tuesday.

The company’s website said the facility specializes in packaging solutions such as pallets, crates, skids, reels and plywood.

“As the local employer in many of our communities, we recognize the hardship this places on a community,” Mitch said. “It is important to us that we protect as many of our hardworking employees as we can.”

Parker’s population was 695 as of the 2020 U.S. Census.

“We are actively connecting employees with jobs at operations across Pennsylvania — including Shippenville — and offering relocation assistance for those who relocate at UFP job opportunities in the Northeast region,” Mitch said.

According to the company’s website, UFP Industries operates 215 facilities internationally.
