Police: Eau Claire man charged after being flown from vehicle in DUI crash
An Eau Claire man allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol was flown to Allegheny General Hospital after sustaining a broken jaw in a Venango Township crash, police said.
Dacota J. Skiver, 27, was charged Tuesday, Aug. 19, with two misdemeanor DUI counts and four summary traffic offenses following the June 22 crash.
Police said they responded to a crash on North Erico Road near Goff Station Road where the driver was thrown from the vehicle after it crashed into a tree. Police said they observed several empty beer cans around the scene and heavy front-end damage to the vehicle.
Skiver was seen leaning against a tree being treated by Emlenton Area Ambulance Service for a broken jaw, police said.
Police at the scene interviewed a passenger of the Ford Ranger who said they were out “booze cruising.” The passenger told police Skiver had about six beers.
Police said Skiver had an estimated BAC of 0.199%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
Skiver’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:20 a.m. Sept. 23 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
