Dassa McKinney Elementary School was the only elementary school in Moniteau School District after the closing of Washington Elementary School in June 2004, so its open house that year was a popular event to attend.
Dassa McKinney was opened for self-guided tours on Aug. 23, 2004, to give new students and their families a chance to become familiar with the school before the start of classes Aug. 26, 2004.
The school also had newly installed computer systems for students to use, which they could try out at the open house in the lead up to using them during the school year.
