State police to crack down on impaired driving for Labor Day weekend
State police and the state Department of Transportation are urging Pennsylvania’s motorists to celebrate the upcoming Labor Day holiday safely.
To enforce safety, state police will increase impaired driving enforcement as part of the National Crackdown on Impaired Driving campaign that runs through Sept. 1.
Over last year’s Labor Day holiday, there were 1,002 vehicle crashes across Pennsylvania, leading to 13 fatalities and 722 injuries. Of those crashes, 106 were alcohol-related, leading to four fatalities; and 27 crashes were drug-related, leading to three deaths.
