High school football preseason Sweet 16: Meet the top Butler County players on offense in 2025

The stable of star offensive players returning to Butler County-area gridirons this fall is senior-heavy. From the line to the skill positions, many players are looking to close their high school careers with strong showings while also courting offers from colleges of different levels.

Every year, there seems to be a player or two who come out of nowhere to become an all-star. Who will be the player or players who rise up and have breakout seasons? We will find out over the next 10 weeks.

For now, the Butler Eagle offers its 2025 preseason Sweet 16 Offensive Team, listed alphabetically:

North Catholic’s Tommy Arth (2) scored 19 touchdowns last year and holds an offer from John Carroll. Butler Eagle file photo
Tom Arth, sr., TE/DB, North Catholic

A versatile athlete who played quarterback in several games last season, he accounted for 1,195 yards of offense and 19 touchdowns in 2024. He holds an offer from Division III John Carroll, his father’s alma mater.

Adam Budzilek, sr., OL/DL, Mars

Plays center for the Planets and will be starting for the fourth year. Head coach Eric Kasperowicz referred to him as “a tough, hard-nosed, throwback type of player.” Budzilek holds offers from D-II Clarion and Seton Hill.

Joe Felitsky, sr., QB, North Catholic

Butler County’s leading passer in 2024. Completed 67% of his passes for 2,983 yards and 23 touchdowns. Has a number of capable targets this season, including Arth and receiver Ryker Kennedy. Felitsky holds an offer from John Carroll.

Sean Franklin, sr., OL/DL, Mars

His work ethic and size (6-foot-5, 310 pounds) have made him an attractive prospect at tackle for several Division I colleges, including Miami (Ohio).

Adam Gehm, sr., TE, Seneca Valley

Will provide quarterback Andrew Loebig with a 6-6, 235-pound target. A three-star prospect according to 247Sports, Gehm verbally committed to play at Vanderbilt University over offers from several other Power Four programs.

Amos Glenn, sr., RB, Freeport

Glenn was Butler County’s top returning rusher with 1,354 yards and 15 scores as a junior, his first season of varsity football after battling injuries in 2022 and 2023.

Speed, good hands and experience — Hein is the total package. He is Mars’ all-time leader with 2,264 receiving yards and has committed to play at Sacred Heart.

Cole Johnston, jr., QB/DB, Karns City

A dual-threat who is expected to have more opportunities to throw the ball this year, he passed for 11 touchdowns last year and rushed for six.

North Catholic’s Ryker Kennedy was one of Pennsylvania’s most prolific pass catchers last season.

Led the entire state in receptions last year with 97, according to PA Today Sports. Totaled 1,229 yards and scored nine touchdowns.

Put up 823 yards from scrimmage and scored six times last year. Will once again be a focal point of Butler’s offense.

The Yellowjackets have one more season to reap the benefits of this guy’s arsenal. Accounted for 25 offensive scores as a junior.

Hunter Scherer, sr., RB/DL, Karns City

A veteran of KC’s vaunted ground attack, he’s a bruising runner who rushed for 14 touchdowns and a 7.7-yards-per-carry average last year on just 103 attempts.

Union/A-C Valley’s Logan Skibinski is back after missing last season due to injury and should provide a jolt to the Falcon Knights’ offense. Rob McGraw/Butler Eagle

He missed all of 2024 with an injury but is now healthy. His speed will figure prominently into the Falcon Knights’ offense.

Sean Slaughenhoupt, sr., OL/DL, Karns City

The leader of a stout front for the Gremlins, Slaughenhoupt has good size (5-10, 260) and a wealth of starting experience at guard.

A rare four-year starter on both the offensive and defensive lines, he will move from center to guard under new coach T.J. Wiley and in the team’s multiple scheme.

A three-year starter at tackle on both sides of the ball, he has attracted interest from a number of colleges, including Slippery Rock and California (Pa.).
