Local steel producer Cleveland-Cliffs’ CEO Lourenco Goncalves said he supports President Donald Trump and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s decision to include derivative products subject to Section 232 steel tariffs.

Those parts include electrical steel laminations and cores, as well as certain stainless steel automotive exhaust parts.

Effective Monday Aug. 18, steel content in these products will be subject to 50% steel tariffs.
