Director of Slippery Rock Community Library resigns
Melissa Schulz, the director of Slippery Rock Community Library for over a year, recently announced that she has resigned from the role.
“This was not a decision that I came to lightly, and it was definitely not an easy one to make,” she said as part of her July 28 resignation announcement. “However, I know that my new career adventure is what is best for me and for my family at this time.”
Schulz also took the time to thank the board of trustees, staff, volunteers, library patrons and the community at large for supporting her throughout her tenure.
Since the resignation of former director Karen Pierce in 2021, the position has swapped hands a few times. Schulz served as interim director before appointed to the role in July 2024.
While the library is looking for a new permanent director, Paige Reimers is serving as interim director.
“We’re all sad to see her go, but we still feel positive about the future of the library,” Reimers said.
According to the library’s Facebook account, applications for the role are open until Aug. 20.
