Wegmans reveals 3D renditions for planned store in Cranberry
During a recent Cranberry Township Planning Commission meeting, Wegmans presented the township with 3D renditions of the proposed supermarket in the township.
At the July 28 meeting, Wegmans received a recommendation of approval from the commission, Ron Henshaw, director of planning and development services, said. There were no serious concerns raised about the contents of the presentation by the commission.
The new store is slated to open in the first quarter of 2027, which would make it the first Wegmans food market in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Wegmans intends to purchase 13.2 acres on Cool Springs Drive for a 115,000 square foot store with 701 parking spaces, according to their presentation to the advisory commission.
The site design aims to divide the parking area with streets, concrete crosswalks and pathways, along with landscape medians and landscape islands for pedestrian safety and traffic flow, in adherence to Cranberry Township ordinance requirements.
Mapped out features of the store include the classic clock tower, arches at the entrance and pilasters.
The next step toward the development of the store would be a public hearing at the board of supervisors meeting on Aug. 28, according to Henshaw. The hearing would focus on final land development for the site and creating the parcel on which the store will be built.
Wegmans, based in Rochester, N.Y., has over 100 stores in the United States. The nearest existing Wegmans is in Erie.
