Slippery Rock man charged in police officer assault

Crime DME

A Slippery Rock man was allegedly passed out across from the Slippery Rock University Police station and assaulted a university police officer, police said.

Cameron Dean Zaccone, 26, of Slippery Rock, was charged with felony aggravated assault following an Aug. 2 incident at Old Thompson Field.

Police said they were dispatched for reports of a man lying on the track. Police said they found Zaccone and woke him with a sternum rub.

Police said Zaccone could not pronounce words properly, so Slippery Rock EMS responded. Police said Zaccone started yelling at EMS personnel and admitted to drinking earlier in the night. Police did not administer preliminary breath tests due to the threats toward them.

Police said Zaccone became irate when walking into the police station and reportedly threw his right elbow into an officer’s chest on the police station’s front porch. Police took Zaccone into the station after regaining control.

Zaccone’s preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
