Slippery Rock Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025 announced with 7 inductees

Slippery Rock University’s Athletics Hall of Fame Committee unveiled its class of 2025 last week.

The seven-member class will be inducted during a banquet Sept. 12 at the Robert Smith Student Center Ballroom and recognized before the football home opener the next day. Tickets are $70 for adults.

Along with the inductees, this year’s Special Recognition Award will be given to the 1995 women’s water polo team that won the national championship. The team was coached by USA Water Polo Hall of Famer Richard Hunkler. The Rock went 25-3 that year, beating San Diego State 10-6 in the championship game.

Here are the seven individual inductees:

Bret Geishauser, football, Class of 1998

Geishauser was an All-American defensive back in 1997 and served as an assistant coach for three years after graduating. He owns SRU’s record for passes defended (57), was named All-PSAC twice and played in the 1998 Snow Bowl. As a senior, he led The Rock to a PSAC title and their first appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs. As an assistant coach, he helped the team to three more PSAC titles and two more NCAA tournament appearances, including its first in the semifinals. Geishauser now owns a fitness equipment supplying company, coaches and lives in Altoona with fiancee and daughters.

Casey Quinn Jacoby, women’s lacrosse, 2012

Jacoby was named the team’s MVP all four years at SRU and twice was named All-PSAC midfielder. She’s second in program history in goals (150), third in caused turnovers (92) and fourth in ground balls (160). Two years after SRU added women’s lacrosse and went 0-32 in its first two seasons, Jacoby helped The Rock turn in seasons of five, seven, 11 and 12 wins. Shortly after graduating, she became an assistant coach with the team from 2013-14 and has stayed in coaching at the high school level. She lives with her husband and children in New Jersey.

Kevin Jewel, cross country/track, 2014

Jewel holds the SRU and PSAC records in the 800-meter run (1:48.51), which he set at the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, when he finished second. He’s the highest-finishing men’s distance runner in Rock history and earned All-American honors. He also is part of 4x800 relay indoor and outdoor school records. He’s worked as a teacher and high school coach, including as an assistant track coach at Moniteau, and lives with his wife and children in North Versailles.

Allison Smith Keck, track, 2010

Keck is a nine-time PSAC champion and one of Slippery Rock’s best hurdlers ever. She qualified for the NCAA championships five times (including four straight in the 400 hurdles), was named All-American twice, earned 18 All-PSAC honors and earned a relay All-American nod. In NCAAs, she finished 13th in the 400 hurdles as a freshman, 17th as a sophomore, 11th as a junior and fourth in her senior year. She earned her undergrad degree a year early and a doctorate in 2013. A teacher, she lives in Cranberry Township with her husband and children.

Will Kengor, baseball, 2016

Kengor is a decorated middle infielder who earned two All-American, All-Region and first-team All-PSAC honors at shortstop, in addition to being named the 2014 PSAC West Player of the Year. He went on to be drafted in 2014 by Detroit and spent 10 years in the pros, making it as far as Triple-A, after hitting .394 with two homers and 90 RBIs in college. His .449 batting average in 2013 ranks fourth in SRU history. He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and is completing a master’s degree at Georgetown.

Lynn Portzer Kime, gymnastics, 1978

Kime is being posthumously inducted after she set Slippery Rock records in the all-around, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise during her career, and earned All-American status on the uneven bars. She led SRU to a state championship and its first appearance in the National Championships, where it finished sixth in the small college meet in 1978.

Rick Magulick, football, 1999

Magulick was a centerpiece of The Rock’s first national semifinalist in 1998 and currently stands as the program’s leader in career carries and third in rushing yards. In 49 career games, he rushed for 3,611 yards and 38 touchdowns on 756 touches, earning first-team All-PSAC honors as a junior and senior. He ran for 1,171 yards and 11 touchdowns his senior year.
