Marilyn Book

Marilyn Fizer Book, 85, of Renfrew, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at Concordia at Cabot.

Born April 29, 1940, in Monessen, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Michael Fizer and Mary Stasko Fizer.

Marilyn was a dedicated educator who retired from the Butler Area School District in June 1991. She taught at Homeacre Elementary School for 20 years and Emily Brittain Elementary School for 10 years.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.

She was an avid needlepoint embroiderer, and she loved to ride motorcycles and snowmobiles.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Carol Fizer, of Lyndora; and her treasured friends, Nancy and Jim Noble, of Renfrew. Marilyn was also godmother to Nancy and Jim’s daughters, Tammy Fortuna and her husband, Joe, and their family, of Slippery Rock; and Kristy Beach and her husband, Josh, and their family, of Valencia.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, A. Ray Book, whom she married July 16, 1961, and who passed away Dec. 19, 2008; and her brother, Michael F. Fizer.

BOOK — There was no visitation, and services and burial were private for Marilyn Fizer Book, who died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
