Police: Woman intoxicated when crashing vehicle with 15-month-old child inside

A Saxonburg woman crashed into a vehicle into a stop sign while driving under the influence with a 15-month-old child in Jefferson Township, according to police.

Natalie Perschke, 32, was charged Monday, Aug. 4, with felony assault of a law enforcement officer and one misdemeanor count each of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following the alleged Aug. 1 incident.

The investigation is ongoing, state police said in a Monday news release.

Police said they were dispatched to a residence on Brian Drive for reports of an intoxicated woman smashing objects in the residence. The woman left the residence with the 15-month-old child before police arrived, according to an affidavit.

Police said Perschke crashed into a stop sign after leaving the residence then fled the scene of the crash. Police said the woman then assaulted an officer when being taken into custody.

Perschke’s preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
