Patty Vay Hopper Kemege, 94, of Sand Road, Petrolia, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family early Monday morning, Aug. 4, 2025, at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born in St. Petersburg, Clarion County, on July 12, 1931, Patty was the daughter of Llewelyn Dickey and Dorothy Margaret Jordan Hopper.

She was raised in Foxburg and attended Foxburg Grade School and was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School, Class of 1949. Patty was married at Mater Dolorosa parsonage in Chicora on Sept. 10, 1951, to John H. “Jack” Kemege. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2002.

She had been employed at Harry’s Market in Foxburg and the Level Works in Parker. Patty was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club of the YWCA and the Foxy Flames of the Red Hat Society. Her life revolved around her Martinsburg Church membership.

She was a collector of all things, especially old postcards, stamps and giraffes. She enjoyed playing cards and games, and spending time on the computer with friends. Patty and her husband loved traveling and had visited over 30 countries.

Surviving are two sons, John Keven Kemege and his wife, Jolene, of Wichita, Kan., and Vance Edward Kemege and his wife, Alannah, of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, three of Keven’s — Kyle Kemege and his wife, Juliana, of Ruston, La., and Keegan and Colin Kemege of Wichita, Kan., and one of Vance’s, Angela Kemege of Escondido, Calif.; a great-grandson, Kyle’s son, Felix; one sister, Peggy Jo Bone of Houston, Texas; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Patty was preceded in death by two sons, Lon Leslie Kemege on July 28, 2003, and an infant son, Kerry Michael, on Oct. 10, 1953, at 3 weeks of age; and two sisters, Mitzi Carol McGinnis on Nov. 15, 2008, and Lois Jean Clawges on Feb. 23, 2017.

KEMEGE — Friends of Patty Vay Hopper Kemege, who died Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Martinsburg Church of Bruin, 128 Main St., Bruin. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Larry Thompson, church pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Foxburg Cemetery.
