Blackwell

David K. Blackwell, 61, of Butler, passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at AHN Grove City Hospital.

He was born Jan. 10, 1964, in Wells Bridge, N.Y., to the late Frank and Audrey (Barnhart) Blackwell.

In 1989, David began working for the Butler VA Medical Center, where he worked his way up to privacy officer. In 2015, he also began to pursue his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, eventually graduating from Geneva College.

David enjoyed running and walking (especially in Cabot), cheering for Pittsburgh sports teams, as well as spending time with his loving children and grandchildren. He was also a strong supporter of local businesses.

He is survived by his four children, Melissa (Marshall) Geeslin, Jamie (Jonathan) Gildersleeve, Nicole (Kevin) Allison and Samantha Milbert; his 11 grandchildren; his brother, Frank (LuAnne) Blackwell Jr.; his sister, Joyce (Wes) Speicher; as well as his numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Ewing.

BLACKWELL — A visitation for David K. Blackwell, who died Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the funeral home with Pastor Ben Blackwell, of First Baptist Church of West Edmeston, officiating.
