CONNOQUENESSING TWP — A bronze statue honoring Corey Comperatore, a volunteer firefighter who died in the crossfire during the assassination attempt on Donald Trump at the Butler Farm Show grounds last year, was originally unveiled on July 13, the incident’s anniversary. It now stands at the main farm show gates.

An attendee of this year’s farm show, Dolly Schultz, of Butler, said she saw the statue a few weeks ago and was happy to see it Monday, Aug. 4, when she arrived.

“I think it’s very commendable that they (put the statue up). It just brings a tear to the eye,” she said.

Aaron Rose, vice chair of the Butler County Republican Committee, called the statue was “beautiful.”

Rose also claimed he appreciates the religious message in the statue, as it depicts Comperatore holding a bible.

His organization’s Farm Show tent featured its own statue, a silver-colored recreation of Trump on the day of the attempt. The president’s fist is in the air with red paint on his ear to symbolize the injury he got that day.

It was donated to the Butler County Republican Committee by Rep. Mike Kelly “in honor of the heroic actions of our president,” Rose said.
