Harry L. “Les” Snyder, 64, of Karns City, passed away in the company of his loving wife and family Wednesday afternoon, July 30, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.

Harry was born in Butler on Aug. 31, 1960. He was the son of the late William and Alice Barger Snyder.

He attended Karns City Area High School. Les worked in heavy construction and carpentry and had most recently been employed as a heavy equipment operator with Quality Aggregates in Boyers.

Les enjoyed classic rock music, remodeling projects around his home, the outdoors, camping, and most especially sitting around a fire with his grandkids.

Les is survived by his wife, Shirley Claypoole Snyder, whom he married at the Queenstown Methodist Church on May 27, 1995. Also surviving are eight children, Lezlie A. Barclay and her husband, “Butch,” Matthew E. Maley, Alicia Walker and her husband, Mathew, Jacquelyn Gilkey, Antoinette Snyder, Harry L. Snyder Jr., Tiara Snyder and Aliyah Snyder. Les was affectionately “Pappy” to his many grandchildren.

Also surviving is a brother, William “Bill” Snyder and his wife, Chris; three sisters, Cindy Slagle and her husband, Tom, Faye Claypoole and her husband, Ralph, and Margaret “Peg” Snyder; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin grandchildren; and two brothers, Jack and Rick Snyder.
