Zelienople’s Main Street revitalization effort to feature personalized touch with bricks for veterans

As Zelienople leaders looked to revitalize the borough’s Main Street, veterans weren’t forgotten.

In fact, one of the efforts to improve Zelienople’s Main Street has veterans front and center.

At a meeting earlier this week, we learned Memorial Park, part of Zelienople’s Four Corners Park, will increase the number of wars from which it recognizes veterans.

Added to the mix are the Persian Gulf War and the international War on Terror. Previously, five wars were included in the memorial: the Civil War, World Wars I and II, Korean War and Vietnam War.

The project, spearheaded by the American Legion Post 474, will allow the borough to recognize up to 2,000 within the display. Bricks will display veteran names.

Zelienople’s effort to revitalize — further improve — its already attractive Main Street is worth commending. The borough’s Main Street features regular events and a nice mix of businesses that make it a place people want to live and visit.

The fact that the borough is including ways to make the revitalization relate directly to the community via efforts like the personalized bricks is even better to see.

Kudos to those making the work in Zelienople happen. We look forward to what else is in store.
